Its the middle of winter. If your heat has been running make sure you get some humidity to the guitar.

Thoughts are that it needs a set up. Something all guitar's should get. When guitar's are shipped they are rarely humidified. If it was made months ago and placed in its Gibson shipping box, it hasn't been humidified since manufactured and it's probably very dry. Start the intense humidification process and once it is re-humidified, take it to your dudette and have it properly set up, then keep it humidified and you should not hear another buzz for a good while. Congrats on your new guitar.

Check the relief first off, the neck may have flatted out after acclimation to your environment. A few quarter turns of the truss nut will fix that.

That guitar should have been Pleck'd at the factory, so once the humidity is right, if the buzz is still there, get it to a tech. The guitar is likely just fine but needs some minor adjustments here and there.

In my opinion you should put new strings on any new guitar purchase. You don’t know how long the originals have been on there.

Congrats on a cool guitar.

Get the humidity straight and it should make a big difference.

My house is at 10% humidity, I have a Planet Waves soundhole humidifier in all of my guitars and humidipacks, right now the best I can get is 40% in the case.

i just bought a Gibson HP415W and a Gibson J-15, love them both.

Where are you at in SJ.

I am heading to our shore house in Anglesea (N.Wildwood) tomorrow.

You will be fine.

With just Humidipacks alone the inside of the case was 31% when the house was at 10%. Once the guitars stabilize at 45% I will use Humidipacks alone.

I figure the Sponge Humidifier will help from using the Humidipacks up faster.

I think the guitar is just acclimating to your house and the buzz will go away once you get the humidity stabilized.

If it gets worse it might just need a minor truss rod adjustment if it wasn't buzzing before. I don't like to mess with the truss rod, I would probably just take it for a pro set-up.

My J-15 action is a bit high for my taste, I will probably take that in for a set-up. My HP415w and Martin are both perfect.
