Using a magnetic pickup to record with Mics

Just wondering if anyone has experience using a magnetic pickup (like a Baggs M1 or DiMarzio) with two microphones in an OTRF configuration or spaced wide apart. Just wondering if the magnetic pickup can be mixed center without causing phase cancellation with either of the microphones.

I doubt there would be any phase issues between the pickup and the mic's, particularly with it panned center and the two mics panned R & L
Certainly no harm in trying it, which should tell you the answer.

I've recorded a lot with either my Baggs or Bill Lawrence pickup plus a single mic and never had a serious phase problem. And I record other people's piezos along with mics all the time and have never have an issue.

Sometimes flipping phase on one channel will make the sum of the two a bit fatter or skinnier, but it's never a crazy all-out cancellation.

Just do it and listen to it, in both stereo and mono if possible. If it sounds good, it is good!

You'll be alright as long as the mics themselves are phase coherent...and by using the ORTF technique you're sticking with a tried & true stereo setup that will be fine.
