Default Bumped into Charlie Daniels in the hall today.

He was as chipper and upbeat as ever. We don't know each other but I meet him in the hall every now and again and it feels like we do know each other because he is so nice. He then went on to play a short performance with a friend of mine backing him on guitar. My friend played my old Conn F-27 that I used as a traveling guitar that I gave him a couple of years back. I can't express the pleasure I felt as I looked on.

I obviously need to hang out in a better class of halls. LOL

That's awesome. I've always thought he'd be a good guy to meet.

I've been a fan since 1974. Charlie has been through so much yet he endures.

Default Hallway Meeting

"Bumped into Charlie Daniels in the hall today."

Now THERE'S a phrase you don't here every day!

Today someone asked him for a highlight of his career and he told the story of the time that he was called to fill-in for the scheduled session guitarist for the first day of Bob Dylan's nine days of Nashville Skyline sessions in 1971. At the end of that day Charlie started packing his gear and Dylan asked his manager, "Where's he going?" The manager said, "I scheduled another guy for the sessions but he had a conflict today so this guy was filling in." Dylan said, "THIS is the guy I want playing guitar for me." Charlie said that moment and that statement made his career and he considers himself really lucky it happened to him.

That's also the first thing I remember him playing on.

Still kick myself for passing on his first LP. Back when Charlie nicknamed Joel "Grease."

Me and Charlie back in the 90's. Disclaimer; just the picture, he had nothing to do with the song. (photobucket ate the pic)
