Default Thinking Emerald

No mention here yet about today's video from Emerald? Surprising, or perhaps I missed that thread. Custom Chimaera with 2 12 strings, in pure white with Led Zepplin inlays? Beautiful work. The shorter neck is mandolin or tenor like in sound.
Anyway, I was watching and at the same time trying to see what the workplace looked like, what other guitars in progress might be sitting around, etc. No major secrets were revealed. Be interesting to see a tour of the shop.

Do you have a link to the video? Or where it can be found?

I saw a photo of the guitar on the Emerald FB page. Interesting. Love Zep but not my cup of tea. Still pining for the day my custom arrives!

Can't seem to post a link, it's on Emerald's Facebook for business page, but the other thread has pictures.

Hi guys,

Thank you very much for your interest in the unveiling of one of our latest custom Emeralds, the Queen Of Light Chimaera.

For anyone who is not signed up to Facebook, you can still video the unveiling video - Here is a link to it. We got a great kick out of seeing Jon's reaction! https://business.facebook.com/Emeral...4964970406647/

Best wishes from all the team,

Yeah, that's a problem with Facebook-only content. For those who have accounts, it is easy to post everything. There are some of us who will NEVER have an account there, even if it means that some pictures and video are not accessible.

The customer is thrilled and I can't help but feel thrilled for him. I can see/hear what the Amicus neck brings to the experience. As the customer said and I can relate, although a player has to learn the nuances of any new guitar to get the most out of it, a Chimaera of any configuration takes that to a whole other level. The operative word is "fun". Yesterday, a couple of friends came over to my house and wanted to see my new coco 6/12 Chimaera. We sat outside around my pond...they really enjoyed hearing songs they've long heard on 6 strings, but where I was switching between necks within a given song and what that sonic enhancement brings to songs. They are not players, but avid listeners...they were very impressed with the Chimaera.

When I saw him play and heard more of the background to the guitar, I really appreciated it more.

I also think that is a great combination for a doubleneck!

For the Amicus side, there's no reason you couldn't also have a nut and saddle made that would work for normal 12 string strings rather than double course for strings--just to play with and have fun hearing the different sounds.

Or, with the double course of strings, one could do like Kaki King and one of the players on one of the Emerald videos did. They tuned some of the second course of strings to different notes and got really nice, but different harmony sounds. That has always interested me.

I think I would rather have the Amicus on top because I would worry that I would whack the tuners otherwise. Incredible guitar(s?)!

Although I think it would look weird with the Amicus as the top neck, I think I agree with you, not necessarily for the reason you mention, but from a functional standpoint where...don't mando players tend to wear them quite high compared to guitars?

Switching necks was my thought also. Easier to manuever around. Still a beautiful piece of workmanship. I would enjoy seeing the workplace in a future vid. I think I saw Sean step in and out for a second.
