Default Laying a Veteran to Rest and the 5 W's

Yesterday I was honored to serve as a pallbearer for my best friends father who passed away earlier this week. He was 86 years old and led a full life while raising his only son.

He served in the Korean War and saw action on the front lines. He was very talented and taught his son every thing he knows and he now runs his own business. A lot of what he taught my friend was also shared with us over the years so we learned a lot from him as well.

These photos are what was displayed above his casket, all the mementos from his military service. This included the story of the 5 W's, a young set of lads that shared most all of their army career together and also the first letter of their last name. They kept in touch all these years, only the 2 on the right in the photo remain. They were at the funeral as honorary pallbearers and I made it a point to have a conversation with these men and thanked them for their service.

It was a sad day with a quiet peaceful snowfall that I was honored to be a part of. My special thanks to Bobby Dee Walker for being my friend, mentor, and for fighting for my freedom.

He sounds like a man who lived honorably and passed that honorable knowledge and lifestyle to others. This is in stark contrast to some of the other threads around here. It is good to remind us that there are such good people in the world.
