Default 2000 Martin D-18V Sunburst $1500

Here is a guitar in my stable that is just not getting much play at the moment.

This is a 2000 Martin D-18V '35-style Sunburst. It is one I picked up last summer and it is definitely in a bit rougher shape than the guitars I usually buy, however, I was using it for a "Festival" guitar, so the dints and dents really don't matter to me. This guitar has a fair amount of "mojo", it is not a case queen, however, it really throws some sound when you play it.

Keep in mind the D-18V's went out of production at the end of 2012, and the new D-18 took it's place. While the new D-18 is a pretty sweet guitar, it still isn't quite the D-18V.

Structurally the guitar is in great shape with a Sitka top and mahogany back, sides and neck (no wings) and the slightly darker Martin sunburst. I swapped both the saddle and head nut for bone (which improved the sound dramatically). It has the 1 11/16ths head nut and with ebony fretboard and bridge.

The action is set at 5/64ths on the bass side and 4/64ths on the treble side and plenty of saddle is left. This guitar will not need a neck reset for a good long time.

It has very little fretwear, just a bit of pitting on 2nd and 3rd fret under first and second strings (b string and high e string). My luthier suspects that the last owner had it refretted before he sold it.

Sound-wise, it has lots of punch and holds it's own at the jams really well. It has a very clean treble side a nice mid range and present but restrained bass side, giving it lots of cut in a jam. With the Sitka top it is a little bit quieter than the average D-18GE or Authentic, but it makes up for that with a really cool sweet tone. It's a fun guitar to play. I did find it to be a little less responsive for a fingerstyle guitar, but it is a great strummer and flatpicking guitar.

I am selling it because I won't be going to any festivals this summer and it is just sitting around idle, this is a very cool, broken in guitar that needs to be played more than it's getting played now.

It comes with the original Geib-styled case (which has the green interior, a number of stickers and one broken latch), but it is structually sound and protects the guitar well.

Looking for $1500 shipped, I always offer to split Paypal fees, so that would add $25.

I am trying to get rid of dusty cases, so I am not interested in any trades at this time.

Here's a chance to own a really cool D-18V for not a ton of cash.

Only the second D-18V Burst I've ever seen, and I bought the first one I saw. Solid value here I'd say. I traded my 2014 D-18, and bought my used V, for the great neck. GLWS.

Default Killer Deal

Killer deal for sure. I am guitar heavy right now or I might have to add this one to the fleet. Super nice.

Nope, sorry, this guitar has been sold. Unfortunately, my account got hacked (and closed) just as it sold, so I wasn't able to post that the guitar was sold.

My apologies.
