Default Hello world\n

Ciao!

After having been lurking this forum for a while, I thought this was a good time to say 'hi' and introduce myself, given that I am gonna try to contribute actively to the threads from now on.

I'd like to say a couple of things about me and my playing: I am an Italian electric guitarist that after a long break from music has decided to be back in business but with fingerstyle on the acoustic guitar. Oddly enough, this coincides with the time I moved to the US (people work hard here and I need something to distract myself :P).

My recently bought toy is a Martin OM-28 VTS (2017, GC custom) which I am totally in love with (except for that bloody reduced string spacing that is costing me several dead notes). I do all-flesh full fingerstyle, I love using the ring finger, and to keep the guitar on my left knee.

For the sake of sharing with you my musical taste, my current repertoire is "The entertainer" (arr. Chet Atkins), Horizons (arr. Genesis) and "Six bar jail" (Unterberger - do you know this one?). The wannaplay tune is "Georgia on my mind" (arr. Rick Ruskin) which is still beyond my current level.

See you around,

Ll.

I'm sure some of the veterans will chime in, but let me welcome you to AGF. I have found it a very welcoming, a very informative, and at times a very entertaining place to spend time. I hope you will find it to be the same.

Howdy, Llewlyn, glad to have you with us.

So let me see if I have this straight: you're an Italian guitarist who uses a Welsh screen name and lives in Boston. You're a one-man melting pot!*

This is a great forum and the vast majority of the participants who post here are both actively helpful and kind. I look forward to your participation.

* In case you're not familiar with the phrase "melting pot," it was (and hopefully remains) the ideal for immigrants to the United States, all the various cultures blending together and informing each other with all that's best in their respective cultures, strengthening America as it occurs. We used to get taught about the melting pot in school when I grew up, and encouraged toward that end. I don't know whether that's still in the curriculum, but it remains a laudable goal.

Welcome to AGF! Love the post title too.

Horizons you say? Post a recording of it!

I play Horizons and Blood on the Rooftops intro, too. I am currently working on getting a decent recording of both of them.

I just learned a new expression! But the truth is a bit less interesting: I was a kid and wanted to play online videogames; I needed a nickname for that so I hit some random keys on the keyboard and then rearranged them. I was 8.

I'd like to do that too! But don't have a mic right now, and am considering whether the next few hundred backs should be spent in a mic or in a Voyage Air OM-02...

Share your recording when you have it!

Welcome...
Over time you will experience a lot of good information here.
I will always be grateful for being able to tap into that as well as the experiences and opinions of the membership. Some of those experiences helped me discover guitars I now own. I don't always agree with some of it, but that's partially because I'm old and set in my ways.
