Default Apogee Duet USB Cable?

Hey friends,

I'm getting some crackly sound running my Apogee Duet off my MacBook Pro into either my monitors or my headphones. I suppose it could be the Duet itself or the USB jacks on my laptop, but it's a problem that just started this afternoon. I figure the best place to start is to replace the USB cable and see if that solves the problem.

The catch for me is that the Duet end of the cable doesn't look like anything else I have around here, there doesn't appear to be a replacement at the Apogee store, and I can't seem to find anything online about a USB cable replacement for the Duet. Everything seems to be about connecting to iPads and iPhones.

I did put in a request with Apogee customer support.

There are other Apogee products like the One, and I have looked at some pictures of the USB cables for those devices. They look different, and I have seen no hints that the cables are compatible.

Does anyone know if this is a proprietary cable end or if it is something I can find on my own?

Thanks so much!

Perhaps the "crackle" sound has something to do with a sample rate mismatch.

Thanks. Actually, it's gone. I shut off the wifi and closed another program. No more noise. Maybe the laptop working too hard?

Anyway, I still want to chase down a source if I need a cable in the future.

Don't know if you've already seen this link, but just in case you haven't:

Good luck!

Thanks. Yes, I have. There's no regular USB cable offered there. The lightning cable is for iPad and iPhone.

Hey Chuck,
Does the cable in the following link look like what you need or already have?
http://www.usbgear.com/UBAMBM-5M.html

All the audio sources I've looked up just list the Duet Breakout cable. This suggests to me it's just a standard USB 2.0 cable you need to connect to your computer and the universal availability of it means the audio specialists don't bother stocking it.
Just a thought!

Yes that's just a standard USB 2.0 A to B lead that is used on printers and loads of USB audio interfaces. Amazon sell these.
