Coco/Sapwood for my upcoming 6/12 Chimaera
Thought I'd share the veneer chosen for my new Chimaera. There will also be sapwood on each headstock.

I'm picturing in my mind what that will look like with the two headstocks with sapwood and cannot wait to see the finished version.
Another stunning veneer. Really amazing beauty. |

Thanks! I'll add that initially I thought I'd want two sapwood stripes, each aligning with the necks. Alistair did a mock-up and although it looked quite good, to me it really appeared two "busy". Prior to selecting this veneer, I also saw a Chimaera mockup using another wood type veneer with a single sapwood stripe and sapwood on each headstock and to me it was clear that the single stripe on the body is the way to go for this guitar. At least that's the way I see it.
With this particular set, I really like the two big knots similar to some others we've seen, but more so, the knot divisions creating three sapwood sections. I also prefer the sapwood being a little narrower than some we've seen. That said, every veneer we're seeing is awesome.

I AGREE COMPLETELY WITH THE SINGLE, CENTERED SAPWOOD STRIPE. iT WILL BE BEAUTIFUL.

As I referenced above, here's a pic of the digital mockup Alistair did for me to be able to see how the Chimaera could look with two sapwood stripes. Again, to me it's too much sapwood. I share this as well to show how much Emerald helps toward satisfying a customer's wants.

I also agree with the single stripe version, although the double stripe has its charms too. I think you've made a wonderful choice. Sapwood on each headstock is a really nice touch too.

I'm imagining a bit of sapwood on the headstocks, off-centered: towards the upper part on the lower headstock and vice versa.

I get that completely and seriously considered it for a while, but as time went on, the look began to wear on me as over-the-top sapwood. Actually Jimmy, when I said I thought the two sapwood stripes looked "busy", the racing stripe analogy had crossed my mind, which I find looks great on an early Mustang or Camaro, but not on an otherwise exquisite looking guitar. That said, I understand why some will like that look. I hope someone else actually orders one with racing stripes.
