I love my Loar LH350. It's probably the best current deal on a new archtop.

I went shopping for an archtop about 2 years ago. I thought Gretcsh, Eastman, Loar, and Washburn all made pretty good guitars for under $1000.00.
I managed to scrape together a little more cash and bought a Guild. It was a better fit for my hands. |

I am a life long acoustic fingerpicker and have never been comfortable with electric guitars.
That, however, changed when I recently bought (because I liked the look of it!!) an Ibanez hollow body AG95 online. Wow, I love it! The guitar is not too big, more Gibson ES339 sized than ES335, and has a sweet tone. It's spot on for fingerpicking as I never ever use a plectrum. I have put flatwound 12's on it and ordered an ebony wooden bridge to see if I can get a bit more of a woody tone to the guitar. It's great for a sort of rockabilly, jazzy, blues type of thing. My Collings 0002H is having some serious competition with my new acquisition! |

I'll let Blind Connie Williams answer the question for you: https://youtu.be/0_jT1T81dIs You should be able to find something comparable for way less than 1K. Learning how to play it like Connie Williams? Priceless. HE http://howardemerson.com |
