D'Addario EJ19 Bluegrass med/lights are my choice on all my acoustics. However, my main guitar (Epi Masterbilt EF500R) sports EJ17 mediums right now. I am severely cash poor at the moment, and they were given to me.When I buy strings again, I will return to the EJ19's, as I find they are the best compromise between playability and tone.

I just put the EJ15 set on so its too early to tell, but they're a little noisy.

Overall I think the best strings for DADGAD are the Alchemy Gold.
The strings that make the least amount of noise are the Elixers and the Thomastik brand. I had Cleartones on the Martin and they were very good and not too noisy either. I'll probably order these again.

I've found a temporary cure for gas - put new strings on, LOL.
They must love you at the music shop! All those different brands....

After trying out different brands during all these years i've come to realize that i like Dean Markleys Alchemy the best.
So right now i use:

Martin D-28: Alchemy Gold Phos Custom light
Taylor 114e: Alchemy Gold Bronze Custom light

I have newtone masterclass custom (.012 - .054) on my Bourgeois JOMC. my only complain is that since i change tuning quite often, these are NOT the strings to change pitch on, they just go real dead real fast.

will probably either revert back to good ol d'addarios or try something like Martin SP after I finish the remainder of the set.

Elixir Nanoweb phosphor bronze on my Goodall Grand Concert; Elixir Nanoweb 80-20 on my Mark Angus 12 string; and a "mystery" set of Elixirs on my Mark Angus F-40.

Elixir electric guitar 11's on my Taylor T-5 and my Gibson ES-345, and D'Addario Chromes on my Gibson ES-175 (13's)...

I am still using the "trial set" of Elixir strings I was sent, back at the end of March; they are wonderful strings! After nearly 2 months and 7 gigs, they still sound bright and crisp (more so than the Nano PB strings I normally use), are still clean and shiny looking, and still feel very good - that's why I haven't changed them yet! I had to email Elixir and let them know that I was going to keep these strings on my guitar until they start to fade; at this point, I like the sound of them better than in the first month!

Eastman E10D - Martin Monel Retro T.R. mediums
Eastman E10 SS- J.P. Pure Nickel lights
Eastman AC420 - Elixir test strings (87-C) a P.B. type string
Delgado Jumbo - Elixir nano P.B. lights
Breedlove c25/SSe - Elixir HD lights

not usually a big fan of Elixir, but I put them on guitars that aren't currently getting played as much. However, the test set that Elixir sent me on the Eastman I really like; go figure.

Thanks for starting this thread as it's interesting to see that many of the posts are using Elixirs, D'Addarios and Pearse strings. I've used coated strings previously but never really got used to them. Absolutely nothing wrong with them....just a personal preference. I'm using Martin SP's Lights and Medium Lights on all of my guitars - Collings, Martin, Taylor and Recording King. But, this thread is making me think about trying out the D'Addarios and Pearse strings.

Ooooooh...zombie thread.

I don't remember if I answered this nine years ago or not. But, all of my acoustics have Elixir PBs on them.

Morris B-50 12 - D'Addario Silk & Steel - tame an overly bright sounding guitar.
Guild F-412 - D'Addario EXP38's - tried DR strings last week but all the unwounds were were rusty, they sent me a new pack yesterday.
Martin Grand J12-40E Special - D'Addario EXP38's, always good, ultra reliable, last well, not too slippery for me like Elixirs.
Martin JDP II - Martin Retro Monels, 10 months old and still sounding great, when do I take them off!
RAS kit#3 - Monels sound great too on this cheap 'basswood body, nato neck' kit guitar.
Alvarez ABT-60 - D'Addario EXP23 - have a set of J Pearse to try next.
Kittis RBJ-195 - D'Addario EXP26's, this guitar sounds better balanced with lighter gauge strings, Monels didn't work on this rosewood guitar.
Dubowski#61 - D'Addario flat Tops, first time user, undecided at this stage, Monels didn't work on this rosewood guitar too.
