Default Fun thread: D-18 vs. J-45

Yup another fund thread. Yup some will say these are too different and need both. Yes it's my day off and I have too much time this morning

Having said, you're stuck in an island and only can only have one.

Let's say post 2012 for both.

Go!

I actually really like the D-18, especially one that has had at least 20 years of airtime, but if its a dessert island than it would have to be the J-45 as it would stand out better with the burst as the planes fly over looking you.

Post 2012 it's no challenge. There are no dud D-18s. And Martin is doing a lovely burst these days.

Without that restriction, I'm a J-45 guy.

J45.

Now if it were between the 000-18 and J45 - tough decision- but I'd take the 18.

D-18 due to the scale length. #TeamLongScale

J-45. Fabulous guitar. I learned to play on a family owned 1940's D-18, and still have fond feelings for it, but really no comparison. J-45--Mahogany or Rosewood.

J-45 for me. My J-45 True Vintage is just about perfect in my ears (and eyes, for that matter).

It's interesting how most reply is for J-45 but D-18 is actually leading the poll. Perhaps J-45 owners are more vocal???

I'm a Gibson guy, but I vote D-18 here because I think it's a little more versatile (less focused) -- meaning you can do more stuff with it than with Gibson slopes.

Can't vote, love 'em both.
Currently own a recent J-45 and have owned a couple D-18Vs over the years.

My J-45 is what I reach for when I need to find "me". If I could only have one guitar that's the one I'd have. Especially an old one.

Owned a D-18, and have played many J-45s.. I'll still take the D-18.

Both great guitars inn their own right. But I'd have to go Martin D-18.
