I would love go to NAMM sometime but I'm not eligible as a non....I am none of the following;

Attendance at NAMM trade shows is restricted to owners, suppliers, employees, endorsed artists and guests of NAMM member companies.

I managed to snare a guest pass a few years back. It can be done but you have to ask around if you know any members. Some booths I spoke with suddenly became disinterested when they realised I was "only" a guest but overall it was a great experience so if you get a chance, take it. I wouldn't do it every year (exhausting and noisy) but I'm ready again. Except now I'm in the wrong country....

I could go on a guest pass, but last time (2010) was way too noisy and stressful. My biggest complaint was acoustic instrument booths right next to guitar amplifier booths. It is hard to hear anything acoustic when they are demonstrating how "this one goes to 11" right next door. -- and all day long. Earplugs and Tylenol for headaches are mandatory survival gear.......

Now you dang kids turn that racket down and get off my lawn! [shaking cane]

You can also get a press pass. They are somewhat strict on those, but I got a pass last year when I had only been doing a podcast for 6 months.

I was escorted out soon after. We'll see how long we last this year, haha

CB;

As my mammy told me, you got to watch the company you keep. Hopefully, this year, you'll be more lasting.
