Get an Eventide H9.

https://www.eventideaudio.com/produc...t-processor/h9

It's got all the effects you'd ever want, but only plays one at a time, so it's truly a pedal and not a multi-effects unit.

Danelectro Cool Cat for any amp without built-in trem - period...

With my '65 Super Reverb RI or '64 Ampeg Rocket it's guitar-cable-amp, just the way I did it back in the day...

The old K.I.S.S. theory in action...

If you're talking about the Keeley Caverns I don't think they make them anymore.
I was lucky to find one on reverb. There's one there now but it will sell fast...

Yeah. Just saw that. Apparently there will be a Caverns II in August. The Delay Workstation does about all that and more, but obviously takes up more space. I'll probably go with the II or Delay Workstation. I definitely like the idea of something that'll boost my signal and give me more reverb when I solo.

Zoom G1Xon. When I played in bands I had racks of stuff and a MIDI foot controller to run it all. This pedal replaces all of that and costs a fraction of the other gear, is a lot smaller, lighter and easier to set up. Does it do the job to my satisfaction? Sure does. Does it satisfy tone snobs? Nah. Do I care? Nah.

EDIT: Just re-read the rules and had missed the part about no multi-fx. In that situation my one pedal would be a volume pedal in the effects loop. This would allow me to control the amount of distortion which I would control by balancing the guitars volume against that of the volume pedal with the pre amp saturated. In a two pedal situation I'd add a delay, which can be used in many ways.

Since I play through a 2 channel amp, with chorus/vibrato (really lush, what this amp is known for) and a deep wet spring reverb I'd use my Dunlop Crybaby 535 volume wah. Also doubles as a volume pedal and boost.

Since I can choose one more, I guess I'd go with a Digitech FreQout or Metasonix F1 F-1 (either one a feedback generator).

Possibly a 2 knob compressor.

A tubescreamer and a Crybaby go a long way for me.

Barber Direct Drive and the Mel 9. My amps have built in reverb.

Usually play through 2 amps, so Delay is paramount, anything but Eventide, AND a Chandler Tube Driver from the 1980's. Now you've got some sound.

My vote is Carl Martin Quattro. All analog with great compressor, two OD's, chorus and delay. Great quality multi pedal.
