kerbie, I'm guessing that your exposure to slack key at Swannanoa was hearing Patrick Landeza? He's one of the people who helped me a lot getting started in slack key and he has done a lot to get the style recognized.

If you're just looking to stroll through some slack key videos I invite you to peruse my YouTube channel listed in my signature, I've been posting ki ho`alu clips since 2007 and have built up quite a collection I think. I even have one of Patrick in there.

Fran I always enjoy your stuff. I have a great love of Slack Key. I'm messed with it some and my biggest challenge is getting on Island time to play it. :-)

Another wonderful piece.

Yes indeed, Fran, it was Patrick. He taught several classes in slack key and was quite popular. I'm not surprised to hear that he influenced you... he's quite a guy! Thanks, I'll check out those clips.

Thanks, but I don't think I'll ever play anything perfectly (grin). You and the other guys who really learn to play a piece correctly in every detail intimidate me no end. I'm just happy to get through one without falling off the stool.

Always love Fran's stuff--and kudos to Kathy Wingert for letting the best sound come out.

Thanks very much for popping this one back up the list. I'm really glad you enjoyed the clip. Kathy's guitar certainly does make me sound as good as I can. I even put together a play list of all the videos I've shot using the Wingert Model E cutaway: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...POZtThoKbCbd2n
