Default 2002 Martin J-40 **SOLD**

This is a beautiful 2002 Martin J-40. The jumbo body makes it really comfortable to play seated and the tone is wonderful. This was one of may father's guitars, left to me when he passed away. Between his collection and mine, I now have more guitars than space in my house (or so my wife tells me ) so I've decided that it's time to sell a few.

Dad was more of a collector than a player, so this guitar was babied and the condition is great -- I imagine that it would probably be graded as "Excellent Plus". There are some light marks in the finish and pick guard from picking, and a fine scratch on the fingerboard that runs parallel to the 14th fret (I've included a labeled photo of this). I've attached plenty of high-res close up photos so you can see for yourself, and there are also more than three-dozen high-res images on my flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/gp/48402002@N07/j79y8S.

These sell for ~$3,800 new. I'm asking $2,600 + shipping

Details...
  • Jumbo body
  • Sitka spruce top
  • East Indian rosewood back and sides
  • Ebony fingerboard
  • Gold Martin tuners
  • Hexagon fingerboard inlays
  • Serial No. 956313

Read more from Martin here.

It will ship well packed with the original case. I even have the original tags that were on the guitar in the store and "Care & Feeding Of Your Martin Guitar" pamphlet that it came with. Please feel free to email me with any questions or if you'd like to make an offer. Thanks for looking.

-Jeff

Thanks. They are really wonderful. I'm selling a few guitars and this is the one I was most on the fence about letting go.

Yes, I'll accept less than $58,000

On a serious note, yes, I'd be happy to discuss any reasonable offers. Shoot me a PM.

If it had a 1 3/4" nut, I'd be all over it! Beautiful piece!

It's amazing what a difference 1/16" can make.

Every time I read "NGD- bought a Martin HD-28" here on the AGF I can't help wondering to myself, "OK but I guess you didn't try a J-40."

Super comfortable body size and shape too.

Nice guitar.

I agree Bruce. It really is an underrated model. It deserves more attention in Martin's line.
