Not the same guitar, but I see this 1937 000-28 just landed at The Music Emporium selling for $50,000. If you live near TME, you might talk with them. Here’s the link.

Ooo... nice one, Paul. ABN, if you contact The Music Emporium, I suggest asking for Adam... great guy, very helpful.

That is one beautiful guitar. I agree that Adam is a nice guy and terrific person to deal with. Andy Cambria is also excellent.

As I understand it, the aforementioned Gruhn Guitars does these appraisals (for a fee) on a routine basis. You would need to contact them, but get good photos of all details, cosmetic appointments, any damage or needed repairs, serial numbers, take lots of measurements...ie nut width, bridge, body dimensions, neck dimensions...the more accurate, the better.

I think they charge about $50.00 for this service...well worth it, as that guitar sounds as though it might appraise at six figures.

BTW, please DO post those pics here as well...we do love our 'guitar porn' around here.

Please just email David back channel and he'll advise you as he suggested. 99+% here have never seen or touched an original 20's or 30's 000-45.

Your buzz words are Gruhn, TJ Thompson (the only restorer I'd trust on this one, plus he can also help appraise or sell), Heritage Insurance and humidity control.

I ship my best pre-war Martins cross country from San Diego to TJ in Massachusetts whenever they need work. But they are insured through Heritage and shipped in a custom carbon fiber case (Calton brand). Sorry for your loss. Congratulations on such a nice inheritance and welcome to the AGF.

OP,

In case you're not familiar with guitar humidifiers, I recommend buying this:

https://www.amazon.com/Boveda-49-Per...midifier+49%25

and also a small hygrometer. You may already live in a region with a stable relative humidity, but if not, a non drip system is your friend. The one above works two ways - soaking up or giving out moisture as needed to keep your lovely guitar at 40 - 55% humidity.

Best wishes on the appraisal of an extremely rare gem

Beautiful guitar! As far as I'm concerned, these mid-late 20s 12 fretters are some of the best sounding guitars on a planet. Best of luck with the proceedings. Don't let THAT be your first slot-head restring. Stakes are a bit high
