Looks like the OX and the Cargo are leading the pack folks. Hmm, a matched set would be very sexy.

Jim, did you say your OX is not a cutaway?

Default Slightly OT - blueburst Cargo?

Tarpman,

I'm in the Cargo Camp-- or, would certainly like to be, betimes.

Do you know if there's any chance CA will ever release a blueburst Cargo?

Perhaps it's better if not. That could run my Wanter into trou-ble. :-)

It's cheap, not huge, while offering a nice tone.

I'd consider a Baritone RAW. I don't have any baritone guitars and this would be a boon for pitching vocals to a singable key while maintaining the ability to play guitar accompaniments in a key that perfectly compliments the song.

Regards,

I would have suggested the GX but I already own a WS1000, which is essentially the same guitar. I think the OX would fill a niche in my collection.

I don't understand why the OX either. That and the Cargo are intended to be their entry point guitars. I find them the least attractive of their offering. It is surprising to me that a forum dedicated to acoustic sound would choose the entry point guitar, but they are affordable and might attract the most orders. Would you guys choose the entry point Martin for a namesake? As you can see I am lobbying for a GX or GXI and probably doing a poor job of it.

Heh, I would choose the GXi just because it's the only CA guitar that I would even consider buying, but I'm unemployed at the moment, and am not in the market for a CA guitar, so you can choose to ignore my vote.

I would say the Cargo. I was actually in Tarpman's shop the other day (visiting LA for Christmas and New Years from Naples, Fl) and left the family in the car on Sunset Blvd while I got five minutes to check out CA's line. The only dealer in the state of Florida (not lefty exclusive) is Sam Ash and they have no inventory. I owned a COT about 5 years ago and loved it, but sold it. Now that I can get a great CA (GX Raw) for less than half what I paid for my COT, I am stoked.
Need something that is truly unique, yet not gaudy or overstated. How about a heritage cherry sunburst?

my wish would be for a GXi done up in a hi-gloss (I don't like the way the neck feels with the RT finish) version of the "tribal" finish.

What a great idea, Ted!

I won't be buying any guitar for a long time it seems, so my vote probably shouldn't count. But with what I have, and what I need, I'd probably get the most mileage out of a Cargo. I like the idea of some identifying AGF something or other.

Coming from a simple minded love of the sound of wood guitars, my OX Raw is the most pleasing composite instrument I've ever played. I was underwhelmed by the GX, X, Rainsong, Blackbird, etc. examples I've tried.

So it makes perfect sense to me that a forum dedicated to acoustic sound would prefer the instrument that sounds most traditional.

I'm willing to make an outrageous request - I've been asking CA for a _real_ fingerstyle guitar (that is, one that suits _me_ <grin>) for a long time. An OX with a soft V neck (check Martin OM-18GE for shape and dimensions) and 1 13/16 nut, 2 1/4 neck width at the 12th fret, 2 3/8 spacing at the bridge. Bevel the top edge, please, while you're at it <grin>.
