Default Acoustic amp for non performer

Looking for recommendations for a not too expensive amp for my Taylor 314CE. Would be fun to hear what it sounds like plugged in! Don't perform (currently) but might be fun to "pretend" in my living room when the family's out for the afternoon.

Also curious if other acoustic non performers plug in for fun. Or find it helpful to hear themselves amplified while practicing, etc.

Plugged in a few times at Guitar Center before I bought it. Felt like a rock star (folk rock) but haven't since.

Thx!

Look for a Fender Acoustasonic Junior, don't know where you're at,
out here in So. Ca. they can be found on Craigslist in decent to excellent cond.
for $175 - $250 range.

you'll have 2 channel inputs, use one for guitar, have the second for a mic.
they sound decent, a little on the heavy side, weight's about the same as a
Fender Deluxe Reverb, but if you're not gigging, using it at home you don't need
to worry about weight.

What is your budget?

If you only have few hundred to spent you are sort of stuck with Fishmen, Fender, and a couple other cheaper amps.

A lot of the nicer amps don't become available until around 1k +

Default Amp

Fishman Loudbox mini.

Great clean sound, easy to use controls and light for it's size/wattage.

I tried several, and ended up with a Genz Benz Shenandoah 150LT. Great amp, 4 inputs, plenty of power. Best part is the tone- very warm, not glassy like some of them.

Problem is, they don't make them anymore. But you can find them on Craigslist, or maybe GC Used.

The Fishman Loudbox Mini is a great suggestion. Also check out the Roland range. I owned the AC60 which was a very good sounding and well specified amplifier, although for home use I think the 35W AC40 could be better suited. Review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y_aOCUohcc

The Loudbox Mini is a good choice. Even though you're only using it at home now, you can't predict the future. I think saving $100 now (by purchasing a tiny amp that's only good for your house) may well be a false savings in the long run.

Lot's of them out there - you can always buy used to save some money.

I have a Roland AC33 which is small, can run microphone and guitar and most importantly in my choice, can run on AC or batteries. It actually has enough power to use in a medium room ( I have used it in church). Built in looper, chorus, reverb.

Are you stuck on buying new? If not, for your needs there is a huge range of possibilities that would leave you with a big chunk of money.

Even buying new you could do better than that with great results. I'd tell you to buy an inexpensive small mixer like an Alto ZMX862 or similar and a powered speaker like a Harbinger V2212 when it goes on sale. That would put you about 225 or so and it would sound a lot better than the small amp options. You could certainly to without the mixer with certain powered speakers as they have some tone adjustment onboard.

Not to hijack the thread (I hope) but do acoustic amps have enough diversity to support playing an electric on them as well?
I'm considering an acoustic amp but thinking about picking up an electric as well. I have almost no experience with amps at all.

Default how bout an Ashdown?

I bought this one on stupid deal of day a while back and really like it. 8" speaker, mic and guitar input, quite a few other nice features and really nice tone for living room, coffe shop type settings. I am pretty picky about my sound, but this works for me for small, portable lightweight and good sound. I found an "open box" one in mint condition for you from MF for $215, so you will have some money for a nice mic, stands and cords.
