Default "She's Always a Woman" Billy Joel

This song seemed like it'd be a major challenge when I was asked to play it for a wedding gig.. but it turned out to work fine for my vocal style/range (I think...baha!) Hope you enjoy. Love that this tune has interesting chord changes and structure but still maintains a great melody. Billy Joel is an ace songwriter.

I will listen to it when I get home from work. I remember about twelve years ago I was asked to play guitar/sing that song at a wedding. I practiced and practiced. That was the only time I ever sang it. Needless to say, a baritone like myself cannot do it in the original key.

Nice job on this, Dustin, in particular, the bridge sounded really good! And I also agree that that Larrivee is very good sounding guitar.

Nice one Dustin! The little bass runs in there really shine through and augment the whole song. You do a nice job of making this song your own.
Really enjoyed that!

Excellent version of a memorable song. Very nice balance to the way you play.

Joel is a great song crafter but I wouldn't quite put him in the great songwriter league...I think he is a little derivative. I feel I can nearly always trace what he's got on his mind...Here I think it's Dylan's "Just Like A Woman".

Appreciate the feedback Fred!! Yeah I was using my rosewood Larrivee and the bass notes were jumping out at the mic and got a little “woofy” so the balance of the mahogany suited this tune better I thought

Ha! Good catch!! You’re so right man, I forgot about that song, they really are a lot alike. I used to play that tune a lot a few years ago, need to relearn it

It was only after my comment re Just Like A Woman I looked that up on You Tube and found more than one bootleg version...as you would expect with Dylan they are v interesting and v. different from the standard version that got released.

It’s hard for me to choose between this one and “Vienna”, great songs!
