Default How 'bout a Martin D-45 John Mayer?

First sneak peak of winter NAMM 2018 model releases. The "John Mayer" D-45.

Well, since I'm self admittedly all about the bling...
There is no doubt that I find this to be one BEAUTIFUL guitar.
However, I'm guessing this probably costs a bit more than a coffee and a donut
haha

Hmm, then we can definitely chalk this up to being
an aspirational dream purchase for me.

I'd love to hear how it sounds.

Just posted some pictures in another thread before I realized you started this one. I was not aware that John played a dread, nice to see he enjoys a variety in his guitars. Although I prefer small body guitars, my D-45V is definitely a keeper.

This D45JM makes my 21 yr old D-42 look pretty great.

John got it right specifying FSSB. Lack of it caused me to sell the 2008 D-45 I once owned.

Like Ted above, I LOVE my '97 D-45V. But I do prefer the block inlays over snowflakes.

I remember reading an interview with him a few years back and I think I recall him saying he got a great D-45 while he was in Japan and really loved it. I'm guessing that's what inspired this model.

JM is not known as one to keep quiet about anything. I wonder how he never let this slip.

What's the difference to other/regular D-45 other than name association?

I wonder if it will have "select hardwood" for a neck, or wings or a two-piece neck for that price? And will the warranty honor a neck reset in the future?

Honduran Rosewood and Englemann, with forward-shifted adi braces appear to be the headlines.

Neck Material:
Genuine Mahogany

Neck Shape:
Full Thickness

Neck Taper:
Standard Taper

Don't see wings in the photo. Why wouldn't the warranty cover a reset?

Hmm, so now we have a D-45 worth $15,000, a PRS signature guitar also worth $15,000 and a PRS signature amp worth $10,000. This guy really knows how to cater to the everyday working man! I think the funny part is that I saw John talking at NAM about his amp and he mentioned how there's finally a super high end, affordable amp on the market. Maybe it's just me but when did $10,000 become affordable?

I'd love one. Of course I'd love love a "plain old" OM-28JM too...but I have a super difficult time supporting a guy who I think is a great player...but the most pompous jerk ever as well. My opinion...
