Never heard of 'em--went to their website. They "look" pretty nice for the higher-end solid top/laminate sides. No one around here carries them. I'll tell you what: I recently (like 10 days or so ago) acquired a new Recording King RD-16SN (SN=sunburst), with solid Engleman top. Under 3 bills. Pretty decent-so much so I decided NOT to call it a "beater," but "utility" (see my sig-line).

There's an amazing amount of DECENT, inexpensive guitars out there. Canada has some great ones going with La-Si-Do, Inc. (Seagull, Simon/Patrick, Art/Luthery, Norman, etc.). Then there's Jean Larrivee and company (NOT "beaters" by anyone's definition!); and several others. Do you have some place that carries them, and you can try them out??

Might want to ask on the UBGF (Blueridge forum). Lots of discussions there about lesser known brands. That's where I heard about Stanford (amazingly good and little known import company).

I have both the Beaver Creek 6 string and 12 string "travel" guitars. For the money, they are both very well made and easy to play.

Generally speaking, I don't expect much from a company who will put something like this out:

How would you describe the tone?Is it more suited to bluegrass or an all around guitar for any style?

My buddy likes to tell the story of buying a pink Fender strat in about the year 62-63. It was NOS at the time and he got a great deal on it. His buddy ran an auto body shop so he went straight away and sanded off the pink and resprayed with a nice white.

He saw a pic of a pink Fender not so long ago in a vintage guitar rag and because there were only a few pink ones ever made, they were worth BIG bucks over other same model of guitar.
He shed a tear and then laughed at his misfortune of defacing a current approx value $25,000.00 guitar.

I'm not fond of Beaver Creeks but I havn't tried a "high end" one yet.

Thanks guys but im looking for a real "budget" guitar.I have a hard time affording strings sometimes(lowest price in my area is $20).Just somethin i can leave at my cabin or take on camping trips that sounds "decent",I do own a yamie but i would rather leave that one at home knowing how my cousin treats any guitar he gets his hands on

D'Addario deals them, at least in Canada.

They're cheap. They are what they are.

For a few dollars more than the cheapest ones, you can get a Yamaha F325 that'll run circles around them.
