Me and Harvey Reid- Deering 6 string open back
Bought a Deering open back Boston on EBay several years ago. Emailed Deering and they they made about 8 of them. Harvey looks to be playing one? He seems to play it better than me. Lol
Here is him on UTube: https://youtu.be/hfwyZLymtpg

I like the upgraded inlays - I've got a '92 D-6 that looks plain by comparison...

The inlays do dress it up, just a great banjo really. Well if it's good enough for Harvey. I looked again today and they do have a open back 6 in their Vega line, totally different sound compared to the resonator

I own a Deering B6 guitar-banjo. It's from the mid- to late-90's sometime; I got it in a trade, so I don't know the year.
Anyway, it's a superb instrument. Guitar-banjos have always suffered from a lot of intonation problems, but Greg Deering figured out how to fix those, and as a result has been producing the best guitar-banjos ever made. The Gold Tone guitar-banjos are starting to approach a similar level, but it was Greg Deering who showed them and the rest of us the way. Wade Hampton Miller |

You guys keep this up and I going to have to consider simmering down my poking fun at banjos and those that wield them!
Can someone describe for this non-banjoer the difference in tone between an open back and a resonator? cotten |
