I'd recommend entering into the electric arena to learn on with something more versatile and ease into it with maybe one of Fenders Custom Vibes Tele or Strats for $350.00, but hey, go play one, they are heavy, the necks are chunky..I've had them in the past and currently in the market myself for another one, but not as my sole guitar

Les Paul's are like strats . to the people that love them they are the only guitar. not sure why those 2 brands have such dedication ( Maybe because at one time those were the only 2 really good electric guitar's out there). man if you love a les go get it just understand there are a lots of guitar's out there just as good as those 2.
