Default You can't take them with you - who gets all your guitars?

I was wondering if people have a plan for all their guitars when the sad day comes when you pass away?

sorry for the dark question, just wondering..

My best friend (unbeknownst to him) gets all of them except the one with the most memories in it. That one goes to my wife.

My guitar playing nephew gets my Custom Shop Tele. Maybe my Martin. My daughter gets my Yamaha if she wants it. She doesn't play but it has a lot of history and memories as she was growing up.

I told my wife to get what she can out of the rest.

I don't know, but I had a cat once that would sit on the couch and watch me play, for hours just sit and watch.

I have a cat now that will pet my guitar while it's in the stand. Won't bring out it's claws, it just pets it. The first time I saw it I freaked, and then realized the cat was petting it. Does it all the time.

I think I'd like them to be sold and the proceeds to go to a music program at a school.

I have two acoustics that I'll be adding - a d35 and a j45. That will top off my acoustic needs, and will put me at 4. I have 4 kids, so one each. My older boy will also get my old Fender La Brea, which is the first "good" guitar I owned.

Out of the electric stuff and other gear, they can take it or sell it...it won't matter to me.

Not much of a plan here, so much as a hope that this is not a problem in the near future.

I do have a will, but it doesn't assign particular guitars to particular people. In truth, there are not that many guitars or that many people. My guess is that the two of my three kids who actually play guitar will each get a couple, and the other kid will get other stuff. I don't foresee a problem -- I have "good" guitars but nothing of such extraordinary value as to cause stress or fights about unequal treatment.

That's a very good question for me, as I have triple digit guitars.
I'm planning to earmark certain ones for my kids, and probably have the bulk of them auctioned off when I pass away....

You too huh? I have two cats, one could not care less. The other, everytime I pick it up, comes over sits on the floor and watches me. Nobody I know wants my guitars. Just more stuff to drag to the curb when I die.

All of my instruments go to my two nephews, as my wife and I have no kids of our own.

It's amazing the stuff people will fight over at a time like that.

Friends, family...other guitarists who aren't close friends but who I like and who have admired one particular guitar or another.

I have tags on the handles of all of of my guitar cases saying what's supposed to be inside...although the guitars are all hanging on my wall.

At some point I'll write the names of the people they're to go to on the tags.
