Default "Amazing Grace" - advanced harmonies, fingerstyle solo guitar

Hi,

Amazing grace -- really a very beautiful song. Many years ago, when my children were just a couple of years old, I sang this song for them, when I brought them to bed.... Today they remember the song, even though they don´t remember, where they have heard the song.
Over the years, I learned a little variation here, and some beautiful harmonies there, and heard different versions of other musicians. My version is a little bit of all of that.... Trying to keep the song alive.

Hope you enjoy it....

Many greetings
Gerhard

Loved your jazzy chord melody arrangement of this song Gerhard. Your guitar sounds so resonate - love the tone!

Hi Steve,
yes, when I started gathering the different chord-variations I found for Amazing grace, it always remembered me to the kind of music of the 1920-1930 years.
I like the kind of Fats Waller with his stride piano style and for me, this kind of music sounds likes a mixture of blues and jazz.... and in that direction the harmonies led me for my version....

Many greetings
Gerhard

Hi Ed,

wow, that is a really big compliment for me, that you like my version that much....
If you mail me (=> "[email protected]") your mailadress, I will send you the score and tabs for my version of Amazing grace....

I also watched some of your youtubes.... you also have a lot of nice recordings. My favourite is your original "Grateful" - a really beautiful piece...

Many greetings
Gerhard

I like it!

Making a familiar, beautiful melody more interesting without losing the original feeling is a tough challenge. You have succeeded admirably.
