Default all around effect pedal

What would be a good effect to use on a gig if you could only use one pedal all night without having to keep switching? Chorus? Delay? Flanger, just something that adds a little to your sound without reaching around to your amp or pedals.

Switching is something a person decides to do or not. The fact that you might have a range of effects in a single pedal doesn't dictate you have to switch to another sound every 10 seconds.

Most soundshaping electronics are there to create a sound for a particular room or theatre and are often controlled by the guy or girl behind the mixing desk. Once it is determined what gives the right sound it's usually not altered unless a certain piece of music requires this change.

It's fine when you can play without electronic enhancements but it depends on the situation you're in, as such I've always found it important to be able to shape my own sound, it makes me more comfortable when performing.

There are just too many situations where you could blame the ambient situation for a bad performance and it's only smart to remove such influences. If you think the sound is right you'll perform better.

I have a Zoom A2 that I can put a bit of chorus and delay on at the same time (in addition to many other settings, including quite a few acoustic guitar models and ).
For extended noodling, it's often the Ovation and Zoom with chorus/delay combination.

Anything and everything you will ever need.

Ooops I thought I was in the Electric Guitar section.
I still use this pedal with my acoustics though to get some reverb, chorus, delay, etc.

TC Helicon Play Acoustic live if you like packages, but if you are talking about a single pedal I would choose a Mooer Yellow comp. you can ask your sound guy to add reverb from the board.

I would steer clear of the Play Acoustic if you are looking for guitar effects. It's very limited in that respect. Lots of vocal fun though! Scared the crap out of my kids talking like an alien!

Kind of wish I would have went with a Play Electric, even for my acoustic, since there are many more guitar effects built in to that unit.

I just bought the voicelive 3 and I'm hoping to replace my pedalboard. If I can get close to the straight up acoustic sound I'm in.

Importantly, what sort of budget do you have for a pedal?
And are you wanting something that has the option to tweak parameters through a menu and save in a memory or something simple with a couple of knobs that you can pretty much is set and leave.

I have a Zoom A2 (mentioned above) that has a variety of usable and tweakable presets to select from and can give some variety in the sounds you can get from a guitar. (The A2 has been superseded by the A3 which has a few more bells and whistles).

I swear by my Zoom G3. It has a built in looper, reverb, compression, delay and chorus, it pretty much covers every effect you might want/need.

I will say it does color the acoustic sound a bit, even with no effects running, but for me this is compromise I don't mind making. it is a very quiet, convenient effects pedal.
