Ok well.i did drive and took closer to 4 hrs 1 way, but got the guitar.

There is one mark on sprice top about the size of pencil eraser and a mark on the neck that isn't too notciable.

The neck tho where it comes in contact with binding ok back has a gap, that worried me but a call to a local luthier said it was normal for this bolt on neck

Congrats! I love the 914's. Such clarity and power. Use it well.

It sure looks great from the one pic you posted. I hope it's in good shape and turns out to be the guitar you are hoping for.
Congrats!!

Thanks again everyone, so far love this guitar....hard to believe how much better it Carvin cobalt 750, which I had thought was pretty good.

GTomcan...you mentioned above that in 08, the 914 didn't come with inlay...is what is on this guitar the cindy inlay or something else?

Also is this gap in the neck area of concern?

BWDogs; Congrats! If you got that for $2200 you did quite well (assuming no unseen damage). GREAT guitar!

As far as the inlay, that is NOT the Cindy inlay (though inlay styles are a matter of taste). Doesn't affect the guitar at all.

Also, the gap would not bother me (again, as long as it was looked at & called non-threatening).

And again, CONGRATS!

Nice guitar, it has the same inlays as my 2011. Taylor uses putty in the "gap". Someone here might even know the brand and color if it bothers you. Congratulations!

Backwaterdogs, The inlay on you 914 is what Taylor just called the 900 inlay.
It was used on the 900s from 2001-2011 Kinda looks like a Mustache.
The 914 came with Ivory bindings 2001-2011 and the bridge inlay also same period. Don't know what Taylor calls the head stock overlay inlay kinda looks like a "Ribon" they used it on many LTD's also.
The 900s have had 4 different fret board inlays over the years, up to now.

Beautiful guitar! I think the X14 is Taylor's best size and of course the 900 series really is the cream of their crop. Nice!
