Jon,
Don't forget there are plenty of mentions of Acacia wood in the Bible as well. Koa is an acacia... I'm just saying.

Or even koa and cedar (think "cedar of lebanon"). With gold hardware (think gold, frankincense, and myrrh) and possibly inlays.

Chris just sent me some more pictures. Work on the body is pretty much done, so he has now shifted his focus to the neck.

The neck blank has been trued up. And here is a look at the freshly slotted fingerboard.

[IMG][/IMG]

The truss rod has been glued in and the headstock overlay glued on.

[IMG][/IMG]

Finally, the maple Ichthus has been inlayed along with maple side dots.

[IMG][/IMG]

No pictures, but the neck tenon has been routed and the mortise has been routed into the body. The fingerboard extension has also been routed and glued in. Next up is shaping and finalizing the headstock and gluing on the fingerboard. Then carving the neck.

I'm really pleased with how the inlay turned out. I think it stands out nicely from colouring in the Macassar ebony.

The neck is closer to being finished.

The headstock has been routed to shape, thicknessed and the volute has been shaped.

The back of the headstock veneers and the fingerboard are now glued on.

Amazing that only a few short weeks ago all we had was a pile of wood, now we are steps away from a completed guitar.

Can't wait to see the neck when it finds its way out of the clamp jungle

The gift of fresh pictures was waiting for me when I got home from work today.

Here's a few shots of the neck as it moves from black being just about finished.

In this shot the veneer and heel cap have been glued on and the fingerboard has been trimmed to the correct length and shape.

Late December is possible, though I'm betting January is more likely - shipping after Christmas might be best even if Chris is ready to ship before then. If that timeline is off I'm sure he'll chime in and correct me.

Great build pics, Coffee. It's nice to be able to see a guitar that you'll one day own and play as it is being created.
