Default Driving Home to Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is my kind of city, multicultural and diverse, regenerating through art, culture and the creative industries, a city with a great tradition sitting in a fantastic location. Each year the Economist magazine announces the city which it thinks has the best quality of life in the USA. Pittsburgh often tops this poll or finishes second. No doubt this is one of the reasons why new industries in biomed and IT are clustering here. (Min you this is the home of Heinz so maybe that is it).

DADGAD CAPO 2

Driving Down To Pittsburg

I’m cruising down this Highway
I’ve been driving all day long
Singing to the radio
To those good old Nashville songs
I’ve still a hundred miles to go
But I’ve smiling all the way
I’m driving down to Pittsburgh to watch the Pirates play

When the morning rolls around
You’ll find me heading out downtown
Taking in the city
The streets, the sights and sounds
And I’ll take my lunch on East Street
At the Restuarant Six Penn
Hell it’s good to be in Pittsburgh
Hell its good to be home again.

Well, some say we’ve had it tough
Some say we’re had it hard
But together in this city we’ve worked long and we’ve worked smart
We are the best kept secret here in the USA
Building this town together
Here in Pittsburgh PA

Well its true what they say
This ‘aint no Paris France
But we’ve got music, weve got opera
We’ve got Theatre and We’ve got dance
We’ve the stealers and the pirates
And Andy Warhol too
You’ve got everything in Pittsburgh
Much anything you’d want to do

Walking along the river
I see every shade of skin
From all corners of the world
Of every faith and creed
We are a city of the world
We ‘aint no Northern dump
Were shouting out for Pittsburgh
Can you here us Mr Trump

Well, some say we’ve had it tough
Some say we’re had it hard
But together in this city we’ve worked long and we’ve worked smart
We are the best kept secret here in the USA
Building this town together
Here in Pittsburgh PA

Love it! Old Forbes Field, The Gunner, them Stillers, Mario and Syd, Myron (may he rest in peace), WTAE and Paul Shannon's Adventure Hour, Mr. Rogers, the rivers, the parks, the nicest people in the world. Sure, I'm biased but thanks for that heartfelt shoutout to a special town.

Steeler, Pirate AND Penguin fan here....

I would definitely reference City of Champions. Maybe Stargell, Clemente, Mean Joe Greene is a symbol of the ultimate blue collar worker so maybe use that as a line?

Maybe a line how the black and gold is as resilient as the miners of old?

Just thinkin out loud here

Don't even get me started on the Penguins. I have yet to come off that Stanley Cup Championship high!
