Default WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE TAYLOR GUITAR

Because a lot of people own and play Taylor guitars but many never get to try others - please tell/show us your favorite Taylor guitar. Please simply stay away if you have anything negative to say. This is for Taylor fans to tell everyone what Taylor they feel is their favorite. For example, I have owned Taylor's from the 300 series to the 900's and my two favorite are the GC3 and the GS5 - even over my 912 and 814's. So I'll start.

My favorite Taylor is the GS5. The Western Red Cedar / Mahogany combination makes this a veritable do everything guitar.

Right before I bought my J-45 I ran into a used 414 with maple back and sides. I loved it, but I knew my gas for a 45 was going to be unrelenting. Now I'm gassing for a cedar over rosewood, and again I run into a 414 R that's making me think twice about my plans. Between now and when I retire I think a 414 will be hanging on one of my walls. I just can't get that Taylor sound out of my head....

Mine is the one I have also - my GC7. It checks about all my boxes:

small GC body - my favorite
Slot head - my favorite
Short scale - my favorite
Cedar top - my favorite
EI Rosewood body - my favorite
Solid wood - my favorite
Gold hardware - my favorite
No cutaway - my favorite
No electronics - my favorite
Abalone rosette & markers - my favorite

Ivoroid binding - not favorite but I do like it
Modest fret markers - not favorite but acceptable

The only two things I would change is I would have maybe snowflake markers and maybe a thin (maybe even satin) finish.

Oh I did I mention the playability ? My favorite
And the fingerpicked sound? My favorite

The best sounding Taylor I have ever picked up was the Hog/Blackwood 324.

Alas, too big for me. I'd like to try the new 322 only I'm afraid I would want one.

Although subject to change without notice, my 458 is my current favorite. I continue to be amazed at its tone and playability...

Of the ones I've tried, I have consistently preferred the MIM 110, 210, 114 and 214. However, my music store-owning mate tells me that I might think differently if I tried some that have aged a bit.

I like a lot of Taylor Guitars.
Every thing that they make sounds good.

I will however pick my wife's older 410 as the one that most impresses me.
This is the hog back and sides pinless bridge model.
The only mod we have done to it is to replace the saddle with bone.
Wow what an improvement that made!

It sounds better than any Martin D-18 that I have played.
In fact I get some bashing for my lack of enthusiasm for the D-18.
As nice as D-18s are, this 410 Taylor is all the hog we need in this family.

This is my current favorite as it is the only one I currently own. I have played it every day for nine months, and I like it more every day.

I like the 812 best in 12-fret. Taylor clearly found the secret elixir when designing the 812.

I've had a 614ce, 712, 814ce and my most recent and favorite is my 914ce.
Of course, the R Taylor is pretty sweet too.

GS-8 or the GA-8 for me.

Give me the plain traditional straight acoustic non-cutaway Taylors!

And I'll add my own pickup without cutting three holes in the side thank you ... ;-)

I was going to mention this one too!

The new fall 2017 914's really tick what I wanted:
An exotic rosewood (looks purtyyy!)
Classy inlays, but not over the top
burst top
abalone around the top (BLING!)
Arm bevel
(in reality, would have changed the nut width to 1 11/16 and the soundboard to englemann. WOuld also have liked Koa binding instead of ebony, but they dont do this since koa is incompatible with their 3.5mil finishes).

Alas, she will stay a dream as all my money is going to my tuition!

My dream guitars:
a 914ce with similar specs to the fall 2017 model
an OM sized Redwood over some unique rosewood built by a local luthier...searching for options still...Beneteau and Dakessian come to mind!

Anyway, for me, Taylors really fit what Im looking for musically and philosophically. I prefer the look and sound of the modern guitar, as opposed to the traditional ones. Plus theyre consistently well built and great sounding!

LKSM 12 string.

If you made me pick an "in production" model then a 500 series with Cedar top.
