Fun little project, a Regal Tiple
When reading online, there is not much information on the Tiple instrument. I just got one of these things to restore (bridge pulling up and a couple other problems). It is a Regal Tiple from Chicago, but the thing is I can't find any information on this model. All of the other ones on Google and eBay have a slotted headstock. This does not. So I was wondering the history / what year this is?
Thanks a lot! |

Wish I could give you some solid info. I'd guess mid- to late-1930s... maybe early 40s. Hard to say. Regal was certainly branding a lot of instruments around that time.
That is very cool and congratulations! The main instance off the top of my head I can think of where the tiple was used in recording was the cool band Cats and the Fiddle from around that time. There are some clips of them in some old films on the Youtube.

I also have a Regal Tiple. I have it tuned GCEA.
The 2 Gs are like the 3rd fret of the 1st string of a guitar and the open 3rd string. The 3 Cs are like the 1st fret on the 2nd string and the 3rd fret of the 5th string. The 3 Es are like the open 1st string and the 2nd fret of the the string. The 2 As are like the 5th fret of the 1st string. I got it at a yard sale for $100 Cdn.
