RIP DAN GURNEY.....
A local; watched and rooted for him many times.

Unlike a lot of his contemporaries, Dan saw old age. Here's hoping they bury him in a Westlake 12 cylinder. He did it all.

Highly respected here in the UK. He'll be missed at the Goodwood Revival this year.

I remember him, among other things, for the All American Racing series where Mustangs, Camaros, Barracudas, Challengers, & Javelins competed on road courses. Gurney drove a 1970 Barracuda. It was fun to watch all that American muscle race around road courses instead of drag racing. The Series gave birth to the AAR Cuda and the Challenger R/T, my 2 favorite cars from that era. I'm a bit partial to old Mopars. The series didn't last long. I guess he was ahead of his time trying introduce European style racing to America. Rest in peace Mr. Gurney. He was my boyhood hero. I was fortunate to have met him and worked with him. Good bye, Dan...I will miss you.
