NGD Rainsong Jumbo
Picked up a great deal on a used Rainsong Jumbo today. Traded two trumpets and an alto sax from my kids high school band days and a very small amount of cash and walked away with a guitar. Very surprised at how good it sounded acoustically and plugged in. Sweet!!

Congrats! You can never go wrong with a Rainsong.....
Ironically I called my little brother last month and asked him to send out the old high school trumpet that all of us siblings played back in the day. So far it hasn't arrived. The wife, cats and neighbors are still safe. |

Congrats! I have one of the Hawaii ones that I acquired from a fellow AGF'er.
They are very nice guitars! |

This one is made in Washington. A couple of years ago I ran sound for an Al Pettaway concert and I was very impressed with the sound of his Rainsong guitar. I knew that the horns would never be played again ( both kids have moved on from those days) so it was a real nobrainer to go check out the guitar.
very happy with the sound and playability of the guitar. The amount of sustain is very suprising. I wish the neck was a little bigger but I can deal with it. I can easily see the advantage of having a temperature resistant guitar for many applications.

It must be an older JM1000? Might be collectible.
I'm also in a sax-less relationship. |

IMO as good as it gets in a CF - and that's why I bought a "his-&-hers" JM1000/JM3000 (the now-discontinued 12-string version) back in 2004...
PSA: Had a few inquiries from AGF'ers in the past - sorry, but the 3000's not going anywhere...

My WS-1000 was made in Hawaii too, in 2001. It was around 2004 (?) that they moved to the mainland, IIRC. My WS is the best sounding on stage of all my guitars, bar none. I often wish that I had bought a WS-3000 back in the day, like Steve's matched pair.
A few years ago Rainsong changed neck molding processes, added a truss rod, and created the beefier N2 neck profile. I can play either neck OK, but I happen to like the original N1 neck better. The N2 neck killed the twelve string WS-3000 and its DR and JM brethren outright (although Ted always assures us here that RS twelve strings might come back some day). I got tired of waiting and watching for used WS-3000's and recently ordered an Emerald X20-12, to be delivered by December. I fully expect the Emerald to supplant my Taylor 354 twelve string when it gets here, which will likely be put up for sale by January or February. |
