What's the best 12 string (plugged in)?
Though I usually don't play a 12 (as my user ID implies), I use a 12 string on the occasions our little "band" plays out--five or six times a year. I just sold a great Martin 12 string Dred (don't sk me why!) and before i try to replace it with another, I thought i'd check with you all for a differnet opinion. I'm looking ofr balance, playability, and great low end. Suggestions? Thanks!

I am partial to my 855e. Plugged in I use both the onboard EQ and the amp or mixer to add bottom end.
If you could find a 2002 fall Ltd. 854 or 855 either would have good low end. The fall Ltd that year was cocobolo.

With a Fishman Rare Earth soundhole pickup, and I think just about any 12-string would sound good. Because it's magnetic, most of the sound is coming from the strings rather than the body. You might give this a try - the single coil version is the least expensive and it still sounds great.

IMO, ANY 12-string guitar will sound good plugged in...as long as you have a decent pickup/preamp system.

I have a Taylor 555 in which I installed a Fishman Rare Earth Blend. I haven't even experimented yet with the microphone placement because it's position after the luthier installed the PU sounded so good, I haven't wanted to mess with it! Right now the blender is set for equal pickup and mike. The only effect I use for this guitar is just a hint of reverb. I agree with franchelB though any good quality 12 sounds good plugged in!
