Default Started one for a friend - Cedar on pomele sapele

I haven't posted a build thread in a long time. Thought it might be fun.
Anyone want to see how this turns out?

Steve your build threads are what really launched interest of build threads here on the forum..... I guess you won't spend as much time talking about the mistakes as you did on those early threads

You really have become a real fine builder and I look forward to watching along again and seeing how you have developed into a real certified Luthier instead of just a wannabe.....

Hmmm, maybe I'll take over that wannabe title

Hi Steve, by any chance did that QS come from an OLF swapmeet?
I've got a set that really looks similar to yours, purchased at ^
So, I'll be watching closely!

Now that is really quite a statement. Do you really think so?
Those first couple of build threads were a lot of fun.

Yes - I forget who I got it from. Do you remember?
I have a second set also. Wonderful stuff, isn't it?

Time to get started on the rosette. This will be made with MOP leaves set into pomele sapele ring.

Cut out the sapele and fit the leaves

set them in and hold them in with a little CA.

Add ebony dust and lots of CA. Pretty?

After a little clean up -

Nice technique to store in the memory banks for down the road. Did you cut your own MOP pieces?
Well done.

"After a little clean up..." That's funny!

Beautiful wood and the rosette looks great!

Bob,
No, I get most of my shell from Andy DePaule. In addition to a lot of stock pieces, he does custom work also.

I'm so glad some one picked up on that. My humor is often too subtle.

I've been thinking... wasn't it "The Don"? As in Don Williams?
At least that's what's coming back right now....

Great idea on the rosette, BTW. Keeping that goop away from the guitar's top as you've done is brilliant.

The guy I got it from must have purchased it from Don.

Brilliant? I like that. I wish it were the truth........
Sometimes it is good to be lucky.
