You guys are so great! I work at a camp in the summer and we frequently get afternoon showers, or less frequently, light drizzle at dusk. I might be working with a group of kids (acoustically, not amped) when this occurs and I'm looking for a quick way to protect the electronics in the guitar it starts to rain. Singin' in the rain can be a lot of fun, well, at least for a few minutes, and with the CF guitars, I'm not worried about them, except for the electronics. I'm liking the gaffers tape idea.....

In that case, some cellophane packing tape (for cardboard boxes) would do the trick in the short term. Leave the ends folded under for easy removal.

Penny;

Maybe a hybrid approach. As previously suggested use some loose cling-wrap, but then edge the wrap with gaffers tape. Humm...

Personally, I wouldn't use anything stronger than painter's masking tape on your guitar. Provided it is removed when the gig is over, there should be no residue to damage your prized possession.

Hey penny, how handy are you? Ever heard of oogoo? It's a recipe that artists use to make molds. It's malleable, has a forgiving working time and you could sand to shape it to your final form desired. You could get creative or just mold a plain plug to cover the cutout. Check it out.
