good vibrations?
Hi all, long time lurker, first post
bit of advice needed, apologies if this has been covered before. I'm thinking of electrifying my Martin 00-15M and I like the idea of having a mic/pickup blend type device like the Fishman ellipse matrix blend that I can tweak and blend mic/pickup volume, but I wondered...Am I going to lose some tone, dynamics, or volume or anything when playing unplugged by having the pre amp from the aforementioned model mounted to the inside of the top at the sound hole? Is it likely to dampen the vibrations of the top? I realise this is probably a physics question really and I've searched online but can't find any advice so thought I'd turn to the wealth of knowledge here as I'm sure someone can offer some advice. Thanks in advance, Chris Last edited by chris_topher81; 01-13-2017 at 01:24 PM. |

Get and iSolo mic system. Sounds better than any pickup I have in any of my guitars and I have some pretty nice guitars. You can use it with any acoustic guitar you have as well as UKE's. Really works flawlessly.

Hi, thanks for responding Puerto player!
I've checked the Isolo out and have heard good things but I don't really want anything mounted externally, i'd rather have it mounted internally but that also depends on whether mounting things to the top (inside or out) would affect the vibrations of the top. |

I think you are going to get as many different opinions as you will get replies..
and no, it wont change the sound of the guitar. I have a few Fishman Infinity Matrix pups (no pickup just under saddle) I also have an LR Baggs Anthem in my J200. The Anthem sounds real good (IMO better than my fishmans, which, honestly do sound good) And the Baggs has element and pickup blend setup you're interested in. The only thing I don't like about the anthem is it does not have quite the strength of an output signal the fishmans do. But, just turn the amp up to compensate, or alternately one can put a small % db boost with a good EQ. |
