Default Greenfield G1.2 African Blackwood Moon Spruce

Hi guys,

this incredible guitar arrived recently for a client of ours and I thought you might enjoy having a look. It's a superb G1 with Michael Greenfield's DADGAD fan fret geometry (first developed for Tony McManus).

The brief in this case was to create a guitar that would have depth, a controlled harmonic series and as much headroom as anyone could ever need. African Blackwood (a true Dalbergia) with its potential for huge, rich sound teamed with moon-harvested Alpine spruce was the way forward. In the interests of comfort, a Laskin-style arm bevel was added.

Gorgeous ABW without sapwood (it's a personal choice)

This shot of the top shows the angled asymmetrical, pin-less bridge carved in Ebony.

And here's the matching headstock!

In this case there is also a beautifully judged mahogany headstock back plate... just gorgeous against the purling...

And here is the heel of the Honduran Mahogany neck joining the body with the famous "Swoosh" carve

Finally here is this awesome instrument in action!

Congratulations Dan. Lovely. Am assuming this GF now resides somewhere on the eastern side of the Atlantic given Mr Watts' involvement? Greg

it does indeed: in a very loving post Brexit UK home! 'Lovely' doesn't do justice to this G1.2 though....she's astonishing.....I never realised a guitar could be like this!

Congrats on a great guitar from a great maker! I think that's the same guitar I just saw yesterday in the documentary on Greenfield guitars. Absolutely stunning!

Hi Dan!

Do you have different scale lengths for the Greenfield G1.2 that you own? Just curious about the difference from the 1st to 6th string in scale length. Thanks!!
