Default Top Joints

What is the most prefered block plane to use when joining tops ? Can you suggest any good methods to get a true gluing surface ? Thanks .......... MERRY CHRISTMAS ..........

Look up "Shooting Boards" for luthiers on youtube. I watched Todd Stock use this method quite effectively with a sharp plane.
I use a Rigid Joiner, if I didn't have it this is how I would go.

Thanks for the links...Todd Stock http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/v...=10117&t=22540 Off to make shooting board ... My old rockwell jointer needs a major tune up ...and using hand tools to make a nice bookmatch works for me...
