Default Somogyi voicing alumni

I was inspired by the earlier thread about Ervin's apprentices, and thought I'd try to get a list of the builders who'd taken his voicing class-the seminar as opposed to the PhD, as Jason so enlighteningly described it.

I could pretend that I'm interested in building a database to judge the impact of Ervin's course, to see who out there is still building, and how it's impacted their building.

But the reality? I'm just kinda nosy :-)

I'll go first.

Class of '12

Steve Denvir
Michael Colbert
Jay Lichty
David Grande
Wilm Stoetzel
Nathaniel Hollis Rich
And an English fellow whose name I can't remember for the life of me.

And at the time, Ervin's apprentices were Hiroshi and Gustav.

And one thing I have to add. My group was not just a smart, talented bunch of guys. They were fun. We laughed pretty much non-stop. I haven't had that much fun in a long time.

Why not also share how the "seminar" has impacted on your building / voicing philosophy (and results)?

Would love to hear / watch a clip or two of yours builds, too!

Thanks for the interest Pippin, but my intent was not to make this a self-promotional kinda thread. I was just curious about all the other builders here and what their experience has been with the voicing class.

But again, thanks for the interest, and if I can manage an intelligent way to articulate what I learned at Ervin's, I'll certainly share it.

Wilm Stoetzel is still building guitars. I met him last November on a guitar show in Hamburg. Very nice person, warm, friendly and very patient (i had many questions to him).
I talked with him a bit about the voicing-class, he said it was definetly a goal.

Two of his guitars could be seen and heard at dream guitars

And here is his website http://www.stoetzel-guitars.com/

His guitars are very well made, nearly perfect handcrafted.

Just for personal interest, could anybody give me a number, what the price for the class is/was ? (I fear the answer.... )
