That picture is from the guy selling it too me, so I have no idea what or who's picture is behind it. Now, if you are the seller under a different forum name...

Mr Beaumont,

Yeah. I was advised that the NON Bigsby version of this guitar would be warmer and probably better for Jazz, however, since this is my first Archtop, I really don't know where it will take me. Jazz ? Blues ? Vintage rock ? Brian Setzer stuff ? I don't know.I'm not much of an electric player, so it was a weird thing to be considering. But it was darn cool looking and I got it at a very good price with shipping, so... I just rolled the dice and hit the Pay button.
Well, I think no matter what you end up doing to it, you got a real winner!

Shipping from back east to here was $30, so the total is a few bucks over $100 with tax. It will be interesting when it all gets here.

"Jazzy tones? Get a rosewood bridge and ditch that obnoxious tone killing Bigsby."

....unless you're playing rockabilly, PLEASE follow that advice!

If you were a blues player I'd recommend a vintage 12-15 watt tube amp and leave tone and volume dimed, "driving" the volume/tone from the guitar. Nothing else needed. I have Junior Watson's old '58 Kay Rhythm Special with a D'Armond "monkey stick" single-coil pickup, Thomastik-Infeld .013's and run it thru a '55 5D3 Deluxe or Silvertone 1342. Tonal bliss....

Jim,

I'll have to see how it sounds. I don't know what the availability of the non-Bigsby bridge and saddle and harp piece would be, given the current state of Guild's transition from East Coast to West Coast. At least it CAN be changed if I need to. But... time and my playing will tell the tale.

Great thread for me as I've just bought a s/h Ibanez Artcore AK95 [with rosewood bridge] and am looking for an amp, but unfortunately there seems to be precious few of them here in OZ [aus], and I'm thinking freight costs would make it difficult if I did find one in the US. To this point, other amp suggestions would be gladly appreciated, as would any other info relative to getting the best out of my new Artcore.
tnx
Berny

Welcome to the forum!

If I've got it right, you have a straight-up full-hollow jazzbox similar to a Gibson ES-175. If you give us an idea of your preferred style(s), what type of tone(s) you're after, some of your musical influences, etc. as well as your budget, we'd be more than glad to offer suggestions...

Tnx for the help. Yes, my Ibanez is similar to the Gibson. My preferences vary considerably actually, but as I have a few other guitars, which I mostly use for a wide variety of music, I think my focus for this one will be mostly on jazz. At 75yoa I'm not wanting to make a career out of playing, but rather to investigate the various qualities of different guitars, and the music to which they are most suited. [R&R has been well covered in a previous life.]
Basically, I guess my ambition here is to spend a few $$$ to give me the opportunity to play some different stuff, and any assistance would be most gratefully accepted!

The amp cleaned up pretty well, with some cleaners, a shoe brush and some work on the corners with a 3M Bristle Loc pad on my die grinder, and vacuum hose. Still need to get some feet, but it looks alright now.

I'll post an appropriate picture or two with the guitar, soon.
