Looking to Shave the Braces
Well I have the itch to shave the braces in a Dean acoustic guitar. I haven't the first idea on how to do this, and so I want to get some ideas on how to accomplish this. The guitar is a 100 dollar camping variety, and I would like to experiment with this instrument. So I need some help in figuring out how to start. Thanks

Why do you want to do that?

If you want to experiment with revoicing, a $100 guitar could be a good choice, but you'll probably be limited by a fairly thick top.
Here's a pretty good guide: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...4&postcount=50 A few additional guiding principals:
What I've found is that shaving braces will give you a fairly straight-forward path to increasing bass response, but other aspects of a guitar's tone are more difficult to predict and control. Somogyi and Siminoff have some good books on voicing if you become interested in the theory and art.
