Default Emerald

Any here has played or heard an emerald guitar? I know it may be better discussed w/ carbon guitar forum, but I know this has a large audience of players.

Never played one, but looked into them awhile back when I was comparing CA and Rainsong. I thought they closed down and are no longer making guitars?

I also believe they have closed down. I had one of their travel guitars and it was great. Ended up selling it to a friend when I got my Rainsong.

Have you seen one used?

I bought an Emerald X10 Opus off the forum a while back and sold it after only 4 month. I should have kept it, it was the lightest guitar I have ever owned and so easy to play. It was not the best sounding guitar I ever had but it was fantastic as a couch guitar.
Use the search function, there are some old threads about Emerald guitars.

I have a Emerald custom travel guitar, and like it very well. Unplugged tone isn't as "big" as a full-size guitar's would be, but when plugged in it sounds like a full-size instrument. Neck is full-size and very playable, locking tuners, etc. The business shut down a couple of years ago when the owner's supply of necks, which were made by Parker, dried up. However, their web sites are still up, and they may have revived the business. Contact information is on their web sites. www.emeraldguitars.com is the main site; www.emeraldlife.com is for the travel guitars.

I had an Emerald Opus 30.... it was an awesome guitar... it recorded REALLY well.... I LOVED the sound of the guitar... it was crystal clear....

but...

I couldn't get over the weird looks.... I play in restaurants, and like it or not.... you have to look the part.... it was just really weird shaped guitar... It was definitely designed for more of a rocking setting than I usually play..
