Smile Blackwood 000 on its way to new home

Woody has prompted me to post more of my builds, and so, just to be obliging and also not to surrender the field completely to kinnaird guitars west, here is my latest.

Back and sides are blackwood, top is european spruce, and the neck is rather curly eastern black walnut. (Its stronger you know than its western cousin, not to mention more available to us on the east coast in lumber form)

Its an uncomplicated build devoid (mercifully) of arm and rib and other anatomical bevels.

Its really hard to photograph blackwood and have the camera show what your eyes see. I took these pics with a smart phone and to fool the light meter, i put a piece of white paper on the table, told the light meter to look at that and then tried to crop most of the white out. Later i found the exposure adjustment switch but the white paper seemed to give better results anyway. You can see ruminants of it in the bottom edge and in the reflection in the back.

The rosette is snakewood bound in purfling lines and paua.

The guitar is bound in snakewood which i think looks particularly good with blackwood.

Peghead is veneered with brazilian Rosewood

Euro top and ebony fretboard. I love the simplicity of an ebony fretboard. To me it looks like the instrument means business.

Blackwood pyramid bridge because blackwood is more musical than ebony.

There you go, just to prove that kinnaird guitars east is not asleep.

Thanks for looking

Well from Kinnaird Guitars South, I say well done! The Blackwood is very nice and all the appointments keep it classy. Another winner.

Thank you Ryan.

South sounds like a more neutral location

Smile Woohoo...

Man is that sweet. I am sure she will sing like an angel!!!

John, let me second Woody on the request for more build threads, and posts!

That snakewood is lovely. As is the entire instrument!

Way to go.

Cheers

Paul

Well put me in the fan club as well. You don't have to do a lot of adornments when the woods look that good although that purfling is pushing the fancier side of things!!!

Nice guitar Kinnaird East aka, the mountain man.

You can certainly be treasurer Tom. Bear in mind we're talking luthier fan club which is by definition bereft of money.
