Default Åstrand Å-OM

Ted Åstrand is a highly talented luthier from Stockholm, Sweden who has studied with Jason Kostal, so he probably knows a thing or two about guitar building. Ted is building me one of his Å-OM guitars. We have decided upon a rather nice set of Madagascar rosewood and European (Swiss) spruce for the top. I recently received these pictures from Ted and I hope to post more as the build progresses. This guitar will eventually wend its way to The North American Guitar in London where I've no doubt the esteemed Michael Watts will put it through its paces...

Swiss spruce top, with my name on it...

Madrose back - love the straight grain of this wood...

I'll post more when I get more pictures.

Cheers,

Ian

Is this Ian of the Sobell's and the Collings 001. If you, hows it going. I'll enjoy hearing you play this one once its completed.

Stuart - it is indeed Ian of the Sobells & Collings 001, although my stable has expanded over the years. I'm very much looking forward to this guitar by Ted Åstrand and to posting more pictures of the build as and when I get them.

Cheers,

Ian

Great to see this started Ian - that madrose looks to be of very, very high quality.

Will it be ready for your summer soiree?

Cheers,
Steve

I'm very happy with the Madrose. Ted sent me some pics of his stash and this set was by far the best.

I'm very hopeful that it will be indeed be ready for the summer do in July.

Cheers,

Ian

my favorite woods combo. I find these woods to go together very well and produce one of the nicest guitars out there.
