Default Big Hollow OO Honduran RW/ Adi - Memphis build

This is my trademark build:
Beautifully quartered Honduran rosewood in a light purple hue, paired with a light, stiff adirondack top.
24.9" scale
Pyramid bridge
Hide glue construction
2-5/16" string spacing bridge
1-3/4" nut

The idea here is to elevate these gorgeous woods through design and execution to a statement of beauty that is at once elegant, classical, and refined.

This guitar will be available for sale at the Memphis guitar show.

Bevan .. is this Tucarensis ..or .. Stevensonii? You seem quite high on this wood selection .. I'm curious as to your thoughts, why .. I'm a big fan of the latter from Belize ..

Maurer Fan,

yes I am quite high... on this piece of wood. It is Stevensonii,
from Jerry Hibdon. It is perfectly quartered and straight, and it sounds great already.

Absolutely beautiful rosewood. Can't wait to see the Adirondack top and hear this one!

Again, very nice wood. Would look nice finished as natural as possible, I think. I have a 14-fret 00 in Stevensonii and red spruce. Great combination, not a hint of boxyness.

Default In to the finish Phase!

I have been working overtime to get this and the other memphis guitars done before June, and I've made great progress.
Here is the third sealer coat of shellac, just before I switch to varnish:

You'll notice a bit of Claw in this top:

This guitar is looking really nice. I've played a few guitars built with Honduran Rosewood, and they've all had a tone that I was impressed with.

Made some progress since this shot. This guitar came out fantastically! A real tight little box that is just asking to be driven. Lay into it a little and you hear it take the force and focus it into a bright clear tone, balanced from low to high.

Awesome work, Bevan! I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing your guitars, in just a couple of days. The one you built for J.R. is bound to be one of the superstars of the whole show. And this one as well.
Travel safe, have fun, and see you in a couple days!
