This is just extra gratuitous guitar porn. Also, I seem to have convinced Mike that Atlas Shrugged should have a pinless bridge, so I am SUPER stoked about that. I really think the details on this Meridian are going to be just different enough from the other stellar examples already known by the good folks of the custom shop. We're shooting for Memphis, and hope to see ya'll there.

I've no objection to porn re-runs when they look this tempting!

Why the preference for a pinless bridge?

Aesthetics mainly. Since we're trying to go way off the reservation design wise compared to Classic Martin or Gibson, I figured why not go all the way.

Matthew, that is looking stunning!

I love watching what happens when a client who knows what they're doing works so closely with Mike and pushes the boundaries. The results are always nothing short of spectacular, visually and tonally. I still just sitvand gaze at mine sometimes, then just strum the open strings (it's always in an alternate tuning) while it sits on the stand... and grin!

You're in for a treat - enjoy the rest of the ride.

Cheers,
David

Thanks. Your Tree is coming along nicely as well. I snagged a few scraps of that tortoiseshell for odds and ends, through the generosity of Mark Hatcher. Should make some nice truss rod covers if I can center the ripple effect.

Thanks that sounds like an incredible idea. A little Tree on a guitar never hurt nobody

Looks fantastic.

But, Matthew, "Atlas Shrugged" is my least favorite bit of writing in the history of the universe. Beyond ugly prose. Really.

How about another name. Polarity? Angularity?

I really love the Rockefeller statue and used it as the inspiration for the aesthetic. As for the prose, it's dense I'll give you that

Matthew,

I hadn't been keeping up with the build thread but now have looked through and am getting excited for you! Some nice "oddities" like the rosette and doubled-but-not-all-the-way purfling design. Nicely done!

Best,

Phil

Thanks Phil. I'm certainly excited. Mike and I discussed the headplate design today, which I'll post when done.

While I'll admit I don't like lots of inlay etc. on a guitar, that headstock facing has really caught my eye: It captures the "art deco" theme perfectly. I'll be very interested to see how that one turns out.

Cheers,
Steve

Looking good Matthew! Love the headstock face and end the graft.
