Ken Franklin Jumbo Parlor
I have been refining the shape of my jumbo parlor guitar and I think that this last effort is my best yet. It's made of ziricote and port orford cedar. I've like the voices of my other efforts but this one seems more graceful to me while still having a lovely voice.

Looks fantastic Ken! Are you going to showcase your work at the Montreal Guitar festival this summer?

Elegant shape. How wide is the lower bout? Interesting saddle and pin situation there. I really like looking at this one!

Sorry, Dru, I wish I could make it this year but I won't be able to. My daughter is having her first baby!

The lower bout is 14". I like staggering the pins to resist bridge cracks in the future. I also like the look of it.

Very nice, elegant shape. I really like the rosette, too.

Ken, as the daddy of two little girls, my mother always told me that being a grandparent was even better than being a mom (which may have been an almost subtle insult, now that I think about it....). Best of luck, and if this is your first grandchild, I hope you have as much fun grandparenting as my mom did.
All the best, Mike

A lot of people are commenting on them, but those Rosettes really ARE something beautiful.

Love the look of your Jumbo Parlor, Ken! Of course, I've grown partial to zircote, but this one is special. I need to spend more time on your web site. I also like your guitar stand. Did you build it?

Thanks, cotten. I didn't make the guitar stand. Just something I bought online. It's not so stable but I like it for taking photos. Recently I modified it so you don't see the part sticking up behind the heel of my neck. Some people thought I had a funny looking neck heel.

Hi Ken. I remember playing Madelaine at Westwood Music in LA a few years back and I remember loving the sound (although the guitar was in desperate need of new strings). That jumbo parlor looks great.
