Default Do Bajo Sexto strings break easily

Are they stretchier than regular steel strings?

According to the D'Addario website the strings are very much like guitar strings. Heavy gauges with loop ends. I would not for-see any problem with breakage unless there was a flaw with the tailpiece. Nylon strings would be stretchy. All of the Bajo Sexto strings I see are steel w/ bronze, phosphor bronze, or nickel winding.

It’s the OP’s usual point - he likes breaking strings.

I don't. Haven't broken a string in a year. I just want to see how stretchy strings are. I don't test strings. Some strings are stronger than others, which I think makes all the more fascinating.

Looking at the Bajo Sexto string sets at Strings by mail it looks like the gauges are monster heavy (.028 for the high string and .092 for the low string). Wouldn't it be possible to use a regular 12-string set on the instrument? Are they built so heavily that it wouldn't sound good that way?

I had suspected that this post was from A.I. I am still a little suspicious.

No, the OP is a real person who has a deep genuine interest in what kind of tensions strings can withstand.
